TOUGH TIMES, EXCITING TIMES

My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:19

When Tony and I moved to Dallas in the early seventies so he could enter seminary, we had one small child and no extra money.  Tony was going to be a full-time student, but he still accepted his responsibility to provide for his family.  This was very important to us, because we both knew that our daughter needed me at home.
Tony had to get a job that would allow him to go to school during the day. So he began working the night shift at the bus station in Dallas, loading luggage onto the buses. He brought home $350 a month.
But they were also exciting times. We saw God meet our needs time and time again. I remember one day when there was no money and not much to eat in the house. I was in tears because I couldn't understand why the Lord would put us in that situation. That morning Tony did what he always did, which was to lead family devotions before he left for school. He asked me how much it would take to meet our needs, and I said five hundred dollars.
That sounded like so much money, but together we asked God to supply. Tony said if God did not give him some sign of provision, he would drop out of seminary for a year to give his family some stability.
But when Tony went to his mailbox at school that day, he found five hundred dollars! I will never forget that experience. God's supply is always more abundant than our need. The promise of His Word is one you can rely on today. The key is earlier in Philippians 4:6: "In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."--- LOIS

PRAY ABOUT IT

Do you want a blessing today? Recall together some of your tough times and how God supplied- and praise Him for those precious experiences. He is a Lord who provides.
